This project aims to develop a library of videos and associated quizzes to facilitate a flipped classroom model for BIOMEDE 458 – Biomedical Instrumentation and Design. This course primarily focuses on laboratory work, with students building several biomedical instruments throughout the semester. However, the lecture component is critical for introducing fundamental instrumentation and signal processing concepts to be applied in the lab exercises.
The intent of the flipped lecture classroom is to create an equitable learning environment and enhance students’ confidence and mastery of course objectives. Students will watch short videos, produced with ME-OPE and accessible via Panopto, and complete quizzes each week before lecture. In-class time will focus on clarifying complex concepts and exploring biomedical applications, limitations, and best laboratory practices. The content will be created in Fall 2025 and implemented in Winter 2026.
